This website has been implemented by the SALA+ consortium in order to provide up-to-date information on the various activities carried out to support and strengthen R&D cooperation between Europe and LatAm in the NEM field. Organisations active in the NEM field and interested in cooperation projects between those two regions are invited to learn more about the SALA+ initiative by attending one of the seminars and workshops, while they can also join the SALA+ community and contribute efficiently to the development of R&D cooperation projects between Europe and Latin America. About Networked and Electronic Media
Networked and Electronic Media (NEM) is one of the European industrial initiatives, also known as European Technology Platforms, established by major key European and global stakeholders.
NEM addresses the convergence of media, communications, consumer electronics and IT as a wide opportunity for future growth, by taking advantage of generalized broadband access, increased mobility, availability of richer media formats and contents, as well as new home networks and communication platforms. The SALA+ Consortium

AETIC
AETIC is formed by the entire whole of the sector companies (more than 1.000 associated companies), which carry out an industrial activity or electronics and telecommunication services within the national territory or in any other country of the European Community, as long as they count with the required infrastructure and services in Spain. 70% to 80%, out of these companies are SMEs.
Aetic main concern is dissemination and exploitation. Aetic will support dissemination activities by using Aetic knowledge portal to network with other data providers and end-users, especially electronics, information technology and telecommunications industries, across Europe. Aetic will contribute in exploitation activities via sectorally focused workshops and reports providing insights into spatial information markets, technology and management thinking around innovation based market opportunities.
AETIC is arranged into six general groups which represent the electronic activity: Consumer Electronics, Components Electronics, Professional Electronics, Telematics and Telecommunication, Operators/Providers of Telecommunication Services and Information Technologies. AETIC has also some horizontal departments that provide services to these six groups: Innovation Unit, Foreign Trade Department and a Training Department.
AETIC has got a large experience in technological platforms. AETIC launched in 2005 four national technological platforms: eNEM, eMOV, eISI and eSEC, in order to organise all the Spanish entities working in each specific field. In this sense, this has been completely a success, being all the organisations ready to work together in the same way. Up to now more than one hundred of national organisations joined to each of these platforms.
AETIC also represents around of 700 SMEs bearing always in mind their needs and how to improve this kind of companies.
CETIM
CeTIM is an independent, non-profit research institute at the University BW Munich Germany, focusing on technology and innovation management. CeTIM's scientific activities are grouped in two Centres of Competence (CoC).
The CoC 'Virtual Organisation' focuses on understanding the emerging organisational forms and management principles for the information society.
The CoC 'Innovation Management' focuses on understanding the management of the growth process of new technology-based firms.
In addition, it has a dedicated project management office which is specialised in coordinating research projects, and CeTIM Academy, which bundles teaching and professional development.
CeTIM strongly builds on co-operative research with industry and public administration and with EU-wide academic and research partners in science and technology. CeTIM has been coordinating and is involved in various European projects addressing these 2 fields of competence, in particular as co-ordinator of the ROADIBROM project, a FP6 SSA roadmap project in the frame of EU/China international cooperation, focusing on the digital convergence towards 2015. CeTIM is member of the ALADIN Network and also, through its Living Lab devoted to the Knowledge Workers, is member of the European Network of Living Labs. Key persons of CeTIM are part of the programme committee and board of reviewers for several conferences like ICE-conference, eChallenges, Pro-VE, Bled Conference and reviewer of academic Journals like www.eJov.org . CeTIM is since mid-2006 member of the NEM European Technology Platform.
Queen Mary Univsersity of London
Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL), it is the third largest college of the federal University of London with proven reputation in coordination and participation in large cooperative projects. It hosts one of the UK leading research groups in multimedia processing, security and intelligent systems (MMV). The MMV enjoys a distinguished standing for innovation, receiving direct funding from overseas organisations such as Nokia, Philips, Nortel, the Department of Defence and the EU. The approach taken is integrative since there are no clear boundaries with other departmental groups. Specifically, synergies with the centre for digital music and the communications and networking groups are exploited. Currently, the MMV group has 36 members, including six members of academic staff.
The group has participated and coordinated many EU funded projects including RACE MAVT; ACTS MOMUSYS, PANORAMA and Custom TV; Esprit UNITE; Basic research DRUMS; IST SAMBITS, IMPACT, MARINER, SHUFFLE, CRUMPET, EDEN, SAFEGUARD, SCHEMA and many others. Recently, t he group coordinated the FP5 IST project BUSMAN, currently coordinates the IST NoE K-Space and the COST292 Action. I t is also one of the main contributors and steering member of the FP6 IST Integrated Projects aceMedia, MESH and RUSHES. The group is also leading several UK EPSRC projects including three industrial CASE projects and the industrial project AUDACE with Visiowave and GE industrial.

Universidad Técnica Federico Santa Maria
The Technical University of Federico Santa Maria (Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, UTFSM), which begin its activities in 1931, owes its origin to the idea of the visionary businessman Federico Santa Maria, a native of Valparaíso, Chile, who wished to leave an institution of higher education as a legacy to his hometown. His vision encompassed the idea of transforming the teaching of science and technology in Chile.

Centro de Investigacion de las Telecomunicationes
CINTEL is a private non-profit corporation, created in 1991 with the initial mission of promoting and foment the development of the Telecommunications sector, nowadays, renamed as Information and Communications Technologies. Its path, experience and participation in the development of the sector have positioned CINTEL as one of the most suitable organisms for the development of ICT projects in Latin America. Its Directors Board is chaired by the Minister of Communications of Colombia and includes a wide number of Members, among which there are telecommunication operators, universities, governmental entities and technology suppliers.
CINTEL is characterized for studying and promote the integral use of Information and Communications Technologies, to increase the competitiveness of its members, clients and society in general. It is remarkable its knowledge and expertise in the application of ICTs as tool of Digital inclusion.

Asociación de Reguladores REGULATEL
The "Asociación de Reguladores REGULATEL AD" is the administrative organ of the Latin American Forum of Telecommunications Regulators REGULATEL. REGULATEL AD is an agency with headquarters in San Jose (Costa Rica) and General Secretary placed in Bogota (Colombia), non lucrative and with legal status.
REGULATEL AD fortifies the initiative of the Latin-American countries to include a greater international presence projecting the common interests, at same time that constitutes the mechanism to promote the advances in matter of telecommunications of each country and of the region as a whole. Likewise, the dialogue between regulators, permits to attend opportunely the themes related to the technological advances that impact in the regulation of the services in the member countries.
The Forum is an efficient organization based on the existing national infrastructures that congregates to 19 regulating agencies of telecommunications of Latin America and 2 of Europe as observer members and is destined to promote the exchange of experiences between its members. The forum operates through an organization that takes advantage of the infrastructure of the regulator of each member country, to carry out exchanges of information and experiences.
REGULATEL is part of the Action 3.1 of the @LIS Programme "Network of Regulators". @LIS is a programme of the European Commission aiming to reinforce the partnership between the European Union and Latin America in the field of the Information Society. Its objectives are to establish dialogue and cooperation on policy and regulatory frameworks in key areas and to boost interconnections between research networks and communities in both regions. @LIS promotes the creation, consolidation and development of a network amongst regulators and agents of the telecommunications field coordinated by REGULATEL, in order to: strengthen the exchange of information and experiences among regulators, facilitate the improve and independence of the regulation of the telecommunications sector in Latin America and contribute to the economic development and the welfare of Latin America countries.
ALETI
ALETI is an international Federal Association registered in Costa Rica, under the Costa Rican legislations, as a non lucrative and of indefinite duration, private organization.
The ALETI fundamental scope is to integrate to the associations and business organizations of the Information Technology Industry and Communication (TIC) of Latin America, The Caribbean and Spain, and promote the commercialization, the commercial and technological exchange between the associates and the countries of the Region. In addition ALETI promotes the establishment and execution of benefit projects for the sector or sectors related; actions of sectors representation before private and public companies and promote the relations among the associations partnered to each one of the member companies of the Confederacy and in favour of the development of the region.
Aretel Bio Bio
Aretel Bío Bío A.G. is a trade-union pioneering association in Chile, which promotes the development and strengthening of the local mass media of the Eighth Region of the country, represented by channels of local television, considering them as fundamental associates in the development of the information, education, culture, and entertainment. These mass media are the real generators of local identity, and for the first time in Chile there exists an initiative of this type that is sustained in the association of local channels of television.
