This section provides detailed information on the activities developed in the framework of the SALA+ project, but also on any relevant projects, programmes, initiatives, etc. addressing R&D cooperation between Europe and LatAm in the NEM field.

The news section is namely open to projects addressing the NEM field funded under the FP6 and FP7 programmes of the European Commission in which LatAm organisation are involved. Should you be involved in such a project and like to publish a news article below, please send a short text (explicitly referring to your project) to info@salamas.eu.

PANAMA JOINS THE LARGEST DIGITAL TELEVISION WORLD COMMUNITY

Besides joining SALA+ European project, in the framework of the international cooperation between Europe-Latin America in the field of Networked Media sector, with the collaboration of the business associations CAPATEC and ALETI, Panama joins the international community that choose the open standards. Panama has adopted DVB-T standard in order to implement the digital terrestrial television, and includes its name in the list of 121 countries that have already chosen European open standards. Highly important opportunities of scientific cooperation have been opened between the European Union and Panama...

The European Commission advocates new strategy for international cooperation in S&T

Today, the European Commission called on governments to jointly develop a strategy for international cooperation in science and technology. It proposed a strategic framework for jointly strengthening science and technology cooperation with non-EU countries, notably in the field of Information and Communication Technologies where Europe is a strong exporter. The Commission's objective is to contribute to sustainable development worldwide while at the same time improving Europe’s competitiveness in science and technology. The Commission invites Member States to define together, rather than in isolation, priority research and technology areas where a coherent EU effort would have more impact...
